This is the chocolate version of the Red Savina – a very hot habanero variety. In the past, the Red Savina was the only habanero we grew. Years ago, this was the “hottest” pepper before being dethroned by the Ghost Pepper. A Chocolate, or brown, version of this pepper popped up – likely from a recessive gene – and we started concentrating on growing just this variety of Savina. Similar to a Chocolate Habanero, the Chocolate Savina packs an extra wallop in the heat category. A great pepper if you like chocolate varieties and it produces like crazy!
